This is a prime example of Enersave embracing new technology and the future.

UF has been in existence since the 1930's but was largely confined to laboratories or small-scale industrial use.

The prompting of water treatment organisations, including Enersave lead to the development of the polysulphone membrane used in UF treatment.

A mark of Enersave's continuing development in water treatment has lead to the further development of a further membrane material now proving superior to polysulphone.

Ultrafiltration opens a whole area of water treatment which engineers have long known to exist but lacked the specific tools to exploit.

For example, traditionally ion exchange has been the medium for water purification and treatment, from specific ion reduction, e.g. Nitrate in drinking supplies to boiler feed water in power stations. The drawback is that ion exchange resins need re-generating periodically when large quantities of chemicals, both acidic and alkaline are required. The resultant waste product then requires further treatment before discharge to the public sewer.

UF eradicates this. Using all membrane technologies of which UF and RO are parts of the system it is possible to produce water almost to complete deionised water quality without the use of large quantities of chemicals. In the Asia Pacific region and PRC only Enersave have this complete technology in house and proven.

Development of the Enersave UF membranes continues with accelerated life cycle and challenging pilot tests.

Application for inclusion of these membranes for UK and EU Drinking Water Inspectorate is in progress. This will allow the marketing of Enersave UF membranes throughout Europe for potable water treatment original manufactured equipment and applications.

Enersave has been successful in demonstrating the capabilities to the municipalities in the PRC to provide safe drinking water using Enersave UF membranes. Enersave is having a number of UF potable water treatment plants in construction to provide safe drinking water in Jiangsu, Tianjin and Suzhou.
